Alternative News

Freedom of the press has been historically one of the most powerful means to maintain checks-and-balances within a society. We've often been told in the West that enemy regimes employ "state media" which implies that news originating from those countries is controlled by a government, and therefore a fair and balanced report is wanting. However, "free" states also have an army of reporters masquerading as journalists, when they are nothing more than propaganda agents for the status quo. This is easy to see. When a "journalist" asks a politician what their favorite flavor or ice cream is--which is the type of reporting we see today with mainstream news outlets--clearly alarm bells should be ringing. The Internet has given millions of people the ability to become independent reporters. The alternative media, through the use of the Internet, is a powerful means to counter corporate cheerleading.

Recent discussions shown on this page about alternative news and other conspiracy theory topics are generated automatically. Topics unrelated to this specific category might occasionally be displayed.
