Occult

Superstition and the mysteries surrounding the world of the occult have caused many people to believe that it has evil or demonic connotations, but the word occult simply refers to something that is hidden. In medicine, bleeding that is occurring but not visibly apparent is termed an occult bleed. In astronomy, the ability to observe smaller celestial bodies is made possible by employing a photographic technique to "occult" radiant objects like stars using lens filters. Traditionally, the world of the occult is the hidden side of life. It has often been associated with metaphysics, esotericism, mysticism, psychic powers, spiritualism, the dark arts, or magic. However, the occult may also include things like lost literature, lesser-known philosophical or religious discourses, and even purposely-hidden historical accounts or scientific discoveries.

Recent discussions shown on this page about the occult and other philosophical topics are generated automatically. Topics unrelated to this specific category might occasionally be displayed.
