TWA Flight 800, a Boeing 747 bound for Paris, France, exploded off the coast of Long Island, NY. All 230 people aboard were killed. The crash was investigated by the FBI, concurrently with the National Transportation Safety Board. The FBI concluded that there was no evidence of criminal actions and the NTSB eventually concluded that the likely cause of the crash was due to a malfunction involving the fuel tank. Despite these findings, the official story of disaster of TWA Flight 800 is challenged by conspiracy theorists. Witnesses claim to have seen something hit the plane after takeoff, suggesting that the crash is the subject of a major cover up and that the plane had been the target of a missile strike, either intentional from a terrorist, or accidental from the U.S. military
